suchilThe library and the Kent Area Orthography Society (KAOS) invite the
community to an inspirational free presentation by spelling bee competitor and
stroke survivor Tony Suschil on Friday, April 10 at 1 p.m. in the library’s meeting
room.

After suffering a massive stroke in July of 2010, Suschil spent 6 months in the
hospital, then faced more than a year of physical, occupational, and speech
therapy. Before his stroke, he had competed in the National Senior Spelling Bee
twice, placing 14th in 2008. Suschil set a goal: Returning to the Bee, if only to
prove to himself that he had regained his abilities.

Hear Suschil’s inspiring story of how preparing and going to the Bee—he placed
7th in 2013 and tied for 10th place in 2014—helped him come back from the
effects of his stroke. Learn how he believes spelling and spelling competition
can help you and your loved ones recover from major illnesses and stave off age
and medical related decline.
