Long Overdue Materials and Outstanding Fines
Kent Free Library, as a member of the Portage Library Consortium, contracts with a collection agency, Unique Management Services, to assist in recovering outstanding overdue materials on the library’s behalf. Accounts will be turned over to the collection agency in the following circumstances:
Overdue material is 60 days past the due date
Cost of replacing the overdue material plus any outstanding fines for the material totals $50.00 or more.
Library users are notified by the library regarding overdue items via telephone or email when the items are overdue.
A $10.00 service charge will be added to each account sent for collection.
This action only effects the small percentage of library patrons who do not return materials.
To avoid being reported to Unique Management Services:
Sign up for email notification next time you visit the library, monitor your account and renew your items online, by telephone or in person, use the after-hours return bins, take advantage of the drive-thru return.
