Friends of Kent Free Library meet on the third Monday of each month at 7:00 pm in the second floor meeting room at the library. Meeting dates for 2017 are scheduled for: February 20 (Annual Meeting), March 20, April 17, May 15, June 19, July 17, August 21, September 18, October 16, and November 20. Meetings are open to the public and subject to change.
The Friends Annual Meeting will be held on Monday, February 20 at 7:00 pm. Anyone with an interest in the Friends is welcome to attend. At this meeting, 7 board members will be elected. If you wish to nominate someone or yourself, contact President Laura Sorrick at firstname.lastname@example.org. There also will be a vote to accept 2 amendments to the Bylaws and Constitution–the text of the amendments can be viewed here.
Only Friends members may vote. New and renewal memberships may be made before the Annual Meeting starting at 6:30 pm.
You may volunteer at other times, but there must be 2 volunteers present at all times. If you have a buddy or 2, you can come and work at any time–you don’t have to follow the scheduled shifts. Just sign in at the Information Desk.
The Friends held their fall book sale on October 6 – 8. Thanks to all who volunteered and all who came and shopped! The sale was a big success.
The next book sale will be in the spring on April 27 – 29. Set up will be Wednesday, April 26 and take down will be Sunday, April 30. Friends are not yet accepting donations from the public; the library has a good number of high quality books and AV materials that have been weeded over the last few years. Once more of these have been sold, the Friends will accept donations of clean, lightly used materials.
Friends of Kent Free Library Board of Directors
A seven-member Board of Directors governs the Friends of Kent Free Library. Board members are elected annually. The Friends work in collaboration with the library’s Director and Board of Trustees to support programs and services the library offers for the community.
