Teen and Tween Programming
Thursday July 28 at 7:00 pm and Thurdays from August 18 – November 17 at 7:00 pm
Tweens are invited to join us grades 3, 4, 5 to join us for science experiments, crafts, games and more!
Registration is required and begins one week in advance of each session. Registration closes at 9:00 pm the Wednesday before each program.

Does the world of international espionage capture your imagination? Come to the library and learn all the skills you’ll need to become a top secret agent. Together we’ll communicate using secret codes, become masters of disguise, and learn how to survive in the wild (which is handy if your spy friends leave you high and dry). At the end of the 8-week course, we’ll have a contest that only our most elite spy can win!
For children and teens ages 7 to 14 years old. Registration is required and begins one week in advance of each session. Registration closes at 9 pm the Tuesday before each program.

Students entering grades 6 through 12 are invited to join us for game night every Monday at 7:00 pm Registration is required and begins one week in advance of each session. Registration closes at 5:00 pm on the Sunday before each program.
Middle School Book Discussions
Students entering Stanton Middle School this fall can join us for a summer reading discussion group! We will talk about the books you’ve read from your grade level reading list and help you get ready for the school year.

Kent City Schools Summer Reading Lists
High school students who plan on taking the ACT test are invited to visit the Kent Free Library on Tuesday, November 15 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm You will meet a Princeton Review expert who will go over test content, walk you through some sample questions and show you score-raising strategies to use on test day. Registration is required. Register online with ACT Test Strategies Registration or visit the Youth Services Department and we can assist you with registration.
ACT Practice Test
High School students interested in taking a practice ACT test are invited to take the test on Saturday, November 19 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Register online with ACT Practice Test Registration or visit the Youth Services Department and we can assist you with registration.
Teen Summer Reading Program
Win cool prizes just for reading this summer in our Teen Summer Reading Program! Get scratch-off tickets for the books you would be reading anyway—each ticket is a chance to win great prizes like gift cards for local businesses, KSU gear, free books, and more! Each ticket is also a Grand Prize entry that you can use to try to win one of our exciting Teen Grand Prizes! Past Grand Prizes include Rubber Ducks Tickets, Off the Wagon gift cards, and Midway passes.
Here’s how it works: You get one ticket for every two books you read. Registration for the program begins June 1 and you can begin collecting tickets on Friday, June 3. Registration is required—just come to the children’s room desk on the second floor and sign up! The last day to get a scratch-off ticket and enter for the Grand Prize drawing is Saturday, July 30.

To celebrate the end of a successful Summer Reading Program, we invite all ages to have a ball with a variety of free family friendly events and activities based on the themes “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!” and “Exercise Your Mind: Read!” which will be held throughout the library.
Enjoy a drop in craft, sports-themed games, and a photobooth in the Dubois Children’s Reading Room. Illustrator Dan Gorman will inspire budding artists to “Chalk the Walk” under the Main Street portico, and a face painter will be on hand. And the Cleveland Indians’ Mascot, Slider, will be coming from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm to meet with kids and their families–get your photo taken with Slider!
Music will be provided by steel drum band Friendly Dog, and adults can exercise their minds with a trivia contest at 1 p.m. in the meeting room.
