Throughout July, seven local songwriters have been meeting and working weekly with teacher and musician Mick Rogers at the Kent Free Library. On Sunday, August 10 at 2 p.m., the public is invited to the library to hear the original pieces composed during this workshop.
According to Rogers, the participants had various levels of writing and performing experience, from beginners to those with music degrees. The songs developed over the course of the workshop have also been varied, from humorous and whimsical to heavy, and just lyrics or just the music.
The concert will feature the debut of these original compositions, performed on guitar and keyboard.
“It’s been a very positive experience,” says Rogers. He continues that he finds value and surprises in working with people who pay special attention to music and speak a common language about it.
No registration is required for the all-ages concert. For more information, please contact the Information Desk at 330.673.4414.
