musicdoveThe Kent Free Library is pleased to welcome Muszikat-Shalom for a free, all-ages concert called “Sing for Freedom” on Saturday, February 7 at 2:00 pm.

To celebrate Black History Month, Muszikat-Shalom, which translates to Music for Peace, will perform music of the Civil Rights Movement. Hear the history of songs such as “We Shall Not Be Moved,” “Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Round,” “Buses Are a Comin,” and “This Little Light of Mine,” and how these songs provided the soundtrack for the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the Freedom Riders Movement and the Greensboro sit-ins.

Muszikat-Shalom was formed in 2006 and features Drene Ivy on piano and Nancy Bernstein on vocals.

No registration is required for this free, all-ages concert in the meeting room. Stop at the second floor Information Desk 30 minutes prior to the concert for an event pass. For more information, contact Adult Services at 330.673.4414.
