Photograph of dancerAs part of the Hiram College Big Read, the library will host a colorful performance of Mexican regional dances by the HOLA Ohio Folkloric Dancers of Painesville, Ohio. Under the creative direction of Salome, the troupe of children and adult dancers has developed a repertoire that reflects the vast diversity within Mexican culture. They have performed throughout northeast Ohio over the last 2 years.

No registration is required; however because space is limited, audience members must pick up a pass at the 2nd floor information desk beginning 30 minutes before the event.

The Kent Free Library, along with the other public libraries in the county, are partnering with The Lindsay-Crane Center for Writing and Literature at Hiram College to present a community-wide reading program, or a “Big Read.” Many programs and events will center on the book Into the Beautiful North by Luis Alberto Urrea in September and October thanks to a $15,000 Big Read grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
