underground-railroad-hero-ABIn honor of Black History Month, the Kent Free Library will host a presentation by historian Paul Goebbel on Sunday, February 21 at 2:00 pm featuring stories about the brave men and women who helped slaves along Ohio’s underground railroad. He will also highlight an Ohio connection to the passage of the 13th amendment to the US Constitution.

Goebbel was co-owner of a manufacturing firm and a gift and home accessory salesmen. He has also been an auctioneer, job coach for disabled adults, and substitute teacher for special needs students. Goebbel currently writes historic study units for home school, tutors, and small museums; gives historic
presentations; reenacts; and is a judge in the Ohio History Day competition.
