Author Robert J. Roman explores the forgotten history of a little 19th century football team and the birth of a football dynasty.

How did the football team at The Ohio State University steal the hearts of the entire state? How did the humble team ultimately develop into the dominance and pageantry known today as “Ohio State football”? In the 19th century OSU was not the largest school in Ohio. Its students were not the first to form a local college team; but what set the students apart was an underdog complex, a chip on their shoulders, and the drive to prove themselves.
