Jackie RobinsonGet a fascinating look at the historic Negro League on Tuesday, February 14 at 7:00 pm.  Dr. Leslie Heaphy, author and Professor of History at Kent State University Stark, shares this important chapter in the story of baseball in honor of Black History Month.

Learn the details of how the League was established in 1920, and the complications players faced because of their race, including segregated lodgings and travel accommodations, on top of the typical problems professional athletes face. Dr. Heaphy will share stories of individual players, owners, and umpires, as well as the history of the League itself. Her book will be available for purchase at the event through the Kent Library Foundation.
