COVID-19 UPDATE: Kent Free Library is closed effective March 17

Kent Free Library will close as of 9:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16.

** NOTE: the library will REMAIN OPEN as a polling location on Tuesday, March 17, 2020. Follow signs to polling location from parking lot entrance.**

Beginning Tuesday, March 17 and continuing through at least Sunday, April 5 the library will close as a measure of caution in response to coronavirus concerns.

Digital resources remain available 24/7 with your library card and we hope to increase the number of checkouts permitted on Hoopla and Kanopy in the coming week.

Please keep borrowed library materials until the library reopens. There is no need to return items during the shutdown period. No fines or fees will accrue while the library is closed and there will be a grace period when we reopen. Any late fees that accumulate accidentally will be forgiven.

If you have recently placed items on hold we will do our best to set them aside for you to pick up when the library reopens. Please expect slowdowns in delivery and cancellations of library materials on hold due to library closings across the state.

As new information is made available, the library will continue to update our plans and communicate changes on our website and Facebook page. The decision to close was not easy. Throughout the duration of the crisis, we have aimed to stay open as long as possible. However, to protect the health and safety of our community members and staff it became necessary to cease regular operation.

Thank you for your support and understanding during this unprecedented time. We look forward to seeing you in April.

Sincerely,

Stacey Richardson

Director
