Summer Reading Adventure for All Ages
Be sure to return your Reading Record(s) to the library, either by dropping it off at the youth or adult information desks or emailing.
In case you haven’t recorded the reading you’ve done since June 15 yet, here are the rules:
The adventure is available for all ages, encourages contactless participation from home, and offers chances to enter raffle drawings for prizes. Reading records are available below for you to print at home. Prizewinners will be notified and may pick up prizes on or after August 1.
Three Easy Steps to Get Started:
- Print the appropriate Reading Record for each participant
- Start reading or listening
- Follow the directions on the reading record to enter grand prize raffles
Kids
(Birth – Entering Grade 12)

Once you have printed your reading record, begin recording the amount of time you spend reading or that someone reads to you. Listening to audiobooks also counts!
Each space on the reading record equals ten (10) minutes of reading. Color one space for every ten (10) minutes spent reading. When a reader reaches the halfway point (600 minutes/10 hours) and completes the reading record (1,200 minutes/20 hours) they get to enter the grand prize raffle drawing. To enter the raffle, scan your completed reading record, or take a photo of the reading record, and email it to: [email protected]. Completed entries may also be returned to the Summer Reading Adventure drop box when the library reopens.
Participants may complete one reading record from June 15-July 31. The final day to enter is July 31. Prizewinners will be notified on or after August 1, 2020.

Prize 3: Care for a Critter: the winner of this prize will choose which animal the library will sponsor at the Akron Zoo
Prize 4: Imagine Your Story @ Home: playdough, puzzles, sidewalk chalk, bubbles and a board game
Prize 5: Dragons: dragon puppet and Dragons Love Tacos books 1 and 2
Prize 6: Disney+ one year subscription
Prize 7: Kiwi Crate subscription (6 months)
Prize 8: Midway Drive-In Movies: carload passes and candy basket

Adults
Ages 18+

Once you have printed a reading record, begin recording the titles of books that you read. Listening to audiobooks counts too! When you finish five (5) books, it’s time to enter the grand prize raffle drawing. To enter the raffle drawing, scan your completed reading record, or take a photo of the reading record, and email it to: [email protected]. Completed entries may be returned to the Summer Reading Adventure drop box when the library reopens.
Adult participants may complete as many reading records as they wish between June 15-July 31. The final day to enter is July 31. Prizewinners will be notified on or after August 1, 2020.
