Local author Melissa Crandall’s book, Elephant Speak: A Devoted Keeper’s Life Among the Herd celebrates the extraordinary bond between humans and elephants. Her book follows the 30-year career of Roger Henneous, the Oregon Zoo’s caretaker for the largest breeding herd of elephants in North America. Widely regarded as a pioneer in the field of elephant management, Henneous continues to be an inspiration to generations of animal care professionals. Hear about his unwavering devotion to the elephants and his unique ability to learn their language and speak on their behalf. A question and answer time will follow the presentation.
One attendee will receive a door prize–an autographed copy of Elephant Speak. Registration is required and starts June 10. Registrants will receive an email with a Zoom link. All ages welcome.
