Squirrels are a relatively diverse group of mammals which includes nearly 300 species worldwide. We can find seven species of squirrel right here in Ohio. However, the most famous squirrels in-and-around Kent are the populations of black squirrels that have become synonymous with Kent State University. Greg Smith, Associate Professor of Biological Sciences at Kent State University at Stark, tells the story of Kent’s famous critter. Learn where black squirrels came from, why they are in Kent, and how human-created changes to the Northeast Ohio landscape impact their population dynamics and community structure.  One attendee will win a door prize! Registration is required and begins on Thursday, June 3. Registrants will receive an email confirmation with a Zoom link. All ages welcome.
