The Board of Trustees is responsible for the governance of the library and its budget. They also hire a Director and Fiscal Officer. Per the Ohio Revised Code, Board members are appointed by the Kent City School’s Board of Education for a seven-year term and receive no monetary compensation.

If you are interested in serving on the library’s Board of Trustees applications are requested annually in September. Those interested should:

  • Feel passionate about the role of public libraries in the community
  • Support intellectual freedom and access to information for everyone
  • Want to ensure the continued excellence of the library
  • Recognize the importance of funding, facilities, and great employees to serve the community 
  • Enjoy working with a group of like-minded people
