April 25 – 28: Friends of KFL Book Sale

The Friends of Kent Free Library will hold their spring book sale April 25 – 28 on the first floor of the library. For sale will be books, audiobooks, magazines, music CDs, and DVDs for adults and children that have been donated by community and that have been withdrawn from the library’s collection.

Friends of KFL members are invited to a preview sale on Thursday, April 28 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm.  Memberships may be purchased at the door and are $5 for individuals and $3 for students or seniors.

Regular sale hours are Friday from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, Saturday from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, and Sunday from 1:30 – 4:30 pm. Cash or check are accepted.
All proceeds go to the Friends of KFL and support library programs and services.


Tuesday, April 23 at 5:30 pm: Renters’ Rights

Fair Housing Contact Service, Inc. will offer a free presentation on renters’ rights, including topics such as responsibility for repairs, illegal entry, security deposit, notifications, lease terminations, eviction and more.
No registration is required.

Sunday, April 21: Library Closed for Easter

The Library will be closed on Sunday, April 21 in observance of Easter.  As always when the library is closed, no items will be due and no fines will be charged on overdue materials.

For your convenience, items may be returned either with the drive through or in the drops to the left of the parking lot doors.

The library will resume regular hours on Monday, April 22 at 9:00 am.

Tuesday, April 16 at 6:00 pm: Free Sustainable Film Screening

The Kent Sustainability Commission and the Kent Free Library present an environmental film series.  Screening are free and open to the public.  No registration is required.

Due to licensing restrictions, titles of films may not be publicized, so the following is a description of the film.  For the titles, please contact the Kent Free Library Information Desk at 330.673.4414.

Tuesday, April 16 at 6:00 pm: This film captures events all over the world and exposes the effects of humanity on our planet.


Sunday, April 7 at 2:00 pm: Free Concert with Stonebridge Brass Jazz Ensemble

Celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month with a free concert performed by the Stonebridge Brass Jazz Ensemble. They will play music covering the period between early jazz up through contemporary jazz. Musicians perform on the 2nd Floor balcony so music can be enjoyed throughout the building. Limited seating is available on the balcony.  Concerts are generously sponsored by the Friends of Kent Free Library.

You’re sitting on a white sand beach, the sun warming your face. You listen to the sound of the waves as they ebb and flow, breathing with their rhythm. The blue sky and ocean consume your field of vision…there. Don’t you feel better already? There’s a lot to be anxious about these days, so come unwind with some guided meditation that can help you de-stress, re-energize and focus on the positive. Recommended for people who like sitting, breathing, and closing their eyes.
