Kent Free Library is pleased to begin offering free (basic) Notary service as of January 3, 2023.

A community member who needs a document notarized must appear in person and present a valid photo identification, such as a current driver’s license, state-issued ID, US Passport, US Military ID, or US Permanent Resident Card (“Green Card”). The document must be signed in front of the Notary, not ahead of time.  Notaries are not able to provide legal advice, nor can they assist in the preparation of legal forms.

The library’s Notaries provide basic services to individuals, not to businesses or organizations. The Notaries can only notarize simple documents like a transfer of auto title; they cannot notarize complicated documents including real estate transactions, wills, documents over 10 pages long, or documents not in English.

Community members who need a document notarized should call the Information Desk to make an appointment. We may be able to accommodate walk-ins on a case-by-case basis, depending on availability and staffing.
