It’s easier than ever to track your reading and earn rewards and prizes with the Kent Free Library 2024 Summer Read! Pick up a reading record from any Information Desk in the library and begin tracking–no registration is required! Simply track the number of days  you spend reading.  Each day you read for 20 minutes or more, mark a space on your record. Every six days of reading you complete, you’ll earn rewards and a grand prize raffle ticket.

The 2024 Summer Read begins on May 23 and ends on July 31.  Each patron may complete one (1) reading record.  Rewards will be available on a first come, first served basis while supplies last.

All ages are welcome to participate!

30 Hours Outside Challenge is Back!

After the success of last summer, we are again rewarding you for spending time outdoors!  Track how much time you spend outside beginning May 23 through July 31 using the “lighthouse tracker” on the back of your 2024 Summer Read reading record.  When you reach 30 hours of outside time, bring your reading record to the Children’s Room to receive a drawstring bag, or for adults, to the 1st floor Information Desk to receive a pin.

Spending time outside is easy!  Here are a few ideas: take a hike, go for a run, ride a bike, go on a picnic, fly a kite, go swimming, read in a hammock, visit a park or playground, play a game, walk your dog, do some yoga, watch the stars, or simply enjoy the fresh air!  Whatever you choose to do, we encourage you to get out there!
