The generous support of community members, local businesses, and area service groups allows the library to continue to provide excellent service to the Kent community. Your donation will help to enhance the library’s collections and expand enrichment programs for all ages.

Memorial or Honor Donation

Consider donating the cost of a book to celebrate a birthday, important occasion, or to memorialize the life of someone special.

Donations are tax deductible and begin at $25, which is the average cost of a new hardback book.

Donors may specify a subject or genre for the donated book(s), such as cookbooks, photography, travel, juvenile, biography, etc.  The titles selected are subject to the library’s collection policy and will be chosen by librarians.

Acknowledgements will be sent to the both the donor and the person or family being honored.  A bookplate listing the name of the person honored or memorialized is placed in the front of the book.  Each donation is handled personally and acknowledgements are sent within a few weeks.

Print a Memorial Donation form or pick one up at the library’s Information Desk.

Kent Free Library Foundation

The Kent Free Library Foundation is a non-profit organization incorporated under Ohio law in 1977. The Foundation is classified as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, charitable organization formed solely to benefit the Kent Free Library and to handle memorials, gifts, and to hold and maintain real and personal property. As such all contributions made to the Foundation are tax deductible to the extent of the law.

Over the years, the Foundation has served as a mechanism to stabilize library funding, acquire property to benefit Kent Free Library, and assist with funding for construction of library projects. In addition, the Foundation routinely supports programs for the Youth and Adult Services departments, including the Summer Reading Program in partnership with the Kent Kiwanis. Funding for all refreshments, special craft supplies, honorariums for speakers, performer fees and prizes for library contests are provided by the Foundation.

Foundation Board of Directors
A Board of Directors manages and governs the Kent Free Library Foundation. The Library Director serves on the board. The Foundation works in collaboration with the library’s Board of Trustees in their efforts to support and maintain the excellence of library services to the community.

A gift to the Kent Free Library Foundation is an excellent way to ensure quality library services for the residents of Kent and Portage County. The library’s tradition of excellence in programming, collections and services is a tribute to the generosity and support of the community.
