Friends of Kent Free Library support library services and programs.  If you are interested in joining this volunteer group, please complete a Membership Form and return it to the library with payment. Payments may be cash or check made out to Friends of Kent Free Library.

Book Sale

The Fall Friends Book Sale will be held:

Thursday, October 18 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm: Member’s Preview*
Friday, October 19 from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Saturday, October 20 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
 Sunday, October 21 from 1:30 – 4:30 pm
*Memberships may be purchased at the door

Monthly Meetings

Friends of Kent Free Library meet on the third Monday of each month at 7:00 pm in the second floor meeting room at the library. Meeting dates for 2018 are scheduled for:  September 17, October 15, November 19. Meetings are open to the public and subject to change.

Volunteer Opportunities

Sorting donations for the next book sale October 18 – 21 is going on.  A group meets to sort most Tuesdays from  1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.  Sign in at the Information Desk.

You may volunteer at other times, but there must be 2 volunteers present at all times.  If you have a buddy or 2, you can come and work at any time–you don’t have to follow the scheduled shifts.  Just sign in at the Information Desk.

Book Sale

Help set up, run, and take down the Fall Book Sale!  Help is needed on the following days; stop by the Information Desk to sign up or contact [email protected]

Assisting with Library Music Programs

In addition to sponsoring the library’s monthly Sunday music program, Friends help set up for and run the concerts, plus sell memberships and tote bags.  Volunteers are needed on the following days:

  • Sunday, October 21 at 2:00 pm: Efferus String Quartet
  • Sunday, November 4 at 2:00 pm:  IN2ATIVE

Donate Books

The library accepts donations of items in new or good condition according to the specifications in this policy. The library cannot guarantee that donations will be added to the circulating collection. The library’s Collection Development Policy will determine the acquisition of donated items. Items not added to the collection will be gifted to The Friends of the Kent Free Library for future book sales to raise funds for the library. Leftover book sale items may be recycled or offered to other local organizations and non-profits.

Friends of Kent Free Library Board of Directors

A seven-member Board of Directors governs the Friends of Kent Free Library. Board members are elected annually. The Friends work in collaboration with the library’s Director and Board of Trustees to support programs and services the library offers for the community.
