Have you made a back to school resolution to pack healthful lunches your kids will actually eat? Do you need new ideas for delicious after school snacks that are lower in sugar and simple to make? Join Chef Guilia for fresh and inspired ideas for portable and make-ahead foods that can be customized to individual tastes.
Learn how to involve kids in planning and preparation, and recommendations for packing and transporting foods. Chef Guilia will provide recipes and resources and samples of plant-based foods will be available for tasting. No food preparation will be done during the program.

Items not added to the library’s collection will be gifted to the Friends for future book sales to raise funds for the benefit of the library.
Acceptable donations include popular hardback or paperback fiction, new (2 – 3 year old) non-fiction, children’s books, DVDs, CDs, and unabridged audiobooks on CD. The library cannot accept items in poor condition or that are dirty or mildewed, textbooks, magazines, encyclopedias, or cassette or VHS tapes.

Enjoy a free, all-ages concert with Celtic Rush, a traditional Irish band with a non-traditional twist. The performance is on the 2nd Floor balcony so music can be enjoyed throughout the building. Limited seating is available on the balcony.
Celtic Rush is a group of friends who have enjoyed performing throughout Northeast Ohio and surrounding states. Blending fiddles, guitars, tin whistle, upright bass, mandolin, and Irish drum (bodhran), their music repertoire includes Irish and Scottish jigs, reels, hornpipes, waltzes and polkas, and even some unexpected non-traditional favorites.
Concerts are generously sponsored by the Friends of Kent Free Library.
An instructor from Kindermusik will lead us through a 30-minute class with music and movement activities on Saturday, September 8 at 10:30 am for families with babies to 2 years old and at 11:15 am for Children ages 3 to 5 years old, independently.
Registration is required and begins September 1. Registration closes at 6:00 pm the Friday before the program. Space is limited.
The Kent Free Library’s 14-week Fall Story Time Session begins Monday, August 13. Six different story times will be offered for babies, preschoolers, and toddlers, and several story times are geared for all ages.
Story Times are led by professional librarians, all of whom have been trained in early childhood literacy.
No pre-registration is necessary for Story Times; arrive a few minutes early to pick up a “boarding pass.” Some sessions have limited space.
Additional programs, including puzzles, crafts, building and STEAM focused programs, Pokémon clubs, and reading clubs are offered through the week for children, tweens, and teens.
Calling all Pokémonenthusia
Learn what goes on behind the scenes of induction festivities and displays. They will delve into the exciting history of rock through the 50s and 60s and will highlight some of the services and resources they offer. This program is for adults.
