Strategic Plan 2024 - 2028

The library's current Strategic Plan was approved by the Board of Trustees on September 19, 2024. You can download it below to learn more about the library's plans for the future.

The following items from the current strategic plan were started or completed in 2025: 

  • Exterior lighting improvements in the parking lot and at the drive-thru to increase safety
  • EV Charging Stations will be installed April 2026
  • Youth Craft Room refreshed with new floors, cabinets, furniture, paint and wall coverings
  • Provided summer lunch program to assist with food insecurity
  • Started a Library of Things, and will continue to add items
  • Developed new programs to combat the loneliness epidemic targeted to patrons 55+. This includes puzzle swaps, silent book club, and game days.
  • Increased programming for babies, toddlers, and their grownups
  • Added two PLAYcarts for families to use in the computer lab or in the children's room
  • Read and Grow Kits will be available in spring/summer 2026 with developmentally appropriate books and toys for babies and toddlers
  • Friends of Kent Free Library funded the purchase of a Podcast Kit which will be available in 2026
  • Launched a new evaluation tool for library staff evaluations aligning with the library's values
  • Refreshed staff areas on the third floor with new carpet and paint and new flooring in the staff break room
  • Started weekly what's happening posts on social media to promote events
  • Launched a new website and event calendar
  • Hired a full-time Marketing & Communications Specialist
  • Created a brand style guide
  • Implemented a social media plan
