Topher Starzyk in Concert

Photo of TopherLocal musician Topher Starzyk returns to Kent Free Library on Sunday, March 2 at 2 pm.  Starzck began his studies at age 7, and is now a successful musician who frequently performs in Northeast Ohio and throughout the Midwest. Known as a “ragtime and classical guitarist,” Starzyck pleases audiences with a diverse repertoire, including pieces by Vivaldi and Bach as well as Gershwin and Joplin.

No registration is required for this free all-ages event and space is limited.  Please arrive a few minutes before 2 pm to get a ticket.

Outback Ray Returns March 1

large_snakeChildren of all ages and their families are are invited to see Outback Ray and his amazing animal show on Saturday March 1 at 11 am.  It will be a fun and educational morning as he brings the Outback to us!

Registration is not required. Stop by the Children’s Desk 30 minutes before the show to get boarding passes. Space is limited.

Programs for Teens!

Photo of PizzaTeens!  Get an active voice in what the library offers you!  Teens in grades 9-12 who are interested in becoming involved are invited to the next Teen Advisory Group (T.A.G.) on Sunday, February 16 from 2 – 3 pm.  Members of T.A.G. help librarians create programs, volunteer at events, organize community service projects, and provide input on how our library can better serve them.  Registration is required–call the Youth Services Department if interested.

That Wednesday at 6 pm, teens in grades 6-9 who enjoy discussing new and popular youth adult titles are invited to the teen book club, Pizza and Pages.  We’ll discuss the graphic novel Drama by Raina Telgemeier, while enjoying a pizza supper.  Registration is also required for this program. Winter Wonderland Carnival

Image of a snowflakeOn  Saturday, February 15 at 11:00 am, we’ll transform the library’s Meeting Room into a winter wonderland!  Children of all ages an their families are invited to enjoy for a morning filled with carnival games, crafts and snacks.  Registration is required and begins February 8.  Please stop by or call the Youth Services Department at 330.673.4414.  Space is limited.

Free Concert by Duende in February

duendeduoEnjoy a free concert by Duende on Sunday, February 9 at 2:00 pm.

Duende is an exciting duo which combines the sounds of the classical guitar and saxophone.  A collaboration between guitarist Krystin O’Mara and saxophonist Ethan Miller, Duende represents a fresh new direction in contemporary classical music.

Enjoy a mixture of traditional classical repertoire, Spanish and Flamenco influences, Jazz, Brazilian, World Music, and contemporary compositions.  You can look forward to a highly entertaining, dynamic performance.
